The Communist Manifesto (1848), by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, is the most influential political pamphlet of the modern era. It interprets all history as the history of class struggle, analyzes how the bourgeoisie revolutionized production and created the proletariat that will overthrow it, and calls the workers of the world to unite. Combining historical theory, polemic, and prophecy, it launched international communism and reshaped the politics of the following century.
